General Suggestions/ Recommendations for Document Legalization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand

  1. Submission of documents is only on official working days. Processing time is two working days after the date of submission (not include the submission day, Saturday-Sunday and official holidays).

  2. Please kindly carefully study the regulations/instructions for Document Legalization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in order to expeditiously facilitate your document submission.

  3. You yourselves can proceed with your own translation by obtaining forms, examples    of related documents, as well as some of other official/specific terms from the website of the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at www.consular.go.th . Such forms and examples could be used for your guidance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs preserves its rights for verifying and correcting the translated paper, as it deems appropriate, by the operating official.

  4. Please verify the translation carefully before submitting it, especially the spelling of names – surnames, which have to be correct and precise with those in the identification cards and/or any individual official documents in order to avoid any problems which may occur when further processing the legalized documents for other official purposes.

  5. If you decide to use the translation service or company, please carefully select the translation service/company which is reliable and up to the standard. It is the responsibility of the documents owner to examine the translation carefully. The   translation has to be correct in accordance with the words/clauses/sentences in the original documents.

  6. Legalization of documents issued in foreign country cannot be processed without prior legalization by the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in that country or by the Embassy or Consulate of that country in Thailand.
